Want to get rid of cPanel hosting, but keep email, etc..

Want to turn off cPanel hosting so I can just do a basic forward of my domain with masking to another URL.  How can I do that but still keep the email hosting?  I've done a Redirect but I can't mask it from what I can tell.

Thank you!!

@glennkav

So to confirm you have a cPanel server, but you only want to use it for email at this point.

And you have a domain you are going to forward (godaddy forwarding feature)

What you need to do is setup an A record in the dns for mail which points to the IP address of your server

then make sure you mx record is set to mail.yourdomain.com

You can then still access webmail at mail.yourdomain.com/webmail

Hope this helps

Re: Want to get rid of cPanel hosting, but keep email, etc..

What are you using for email?  Is it part of the cPanel or do you have a stand alone plan like Office or Workspace?

Also the masking technique relies on obsolete code that doesn't comply with modern standards and can cause some problems.  Ideally you would want to point the domain using DNS records, but it depends on how that website is hosted (if you can add the domain).
