SSL basic--https connection can't be made after install

I installed godaddy SSL basic myself, everything looks correct, support says it looks correct. After install, There are 5 errors in the go daddy certificate checker. (3) Could not retrieve certificate, no encryption method found, and https connection can't be made. My last support call changed the IP address, still not working properly. This is my 1st experience with ssl. Any suggestions?

Hi @GL66. Thanks for posting. Based on the domain and IP, it looks like you're hosting this on one of our older Linux Web Hosting plans. In that case, you'll want to have the certificate installed automatically. If you've done that and this is still not working,  you'll want to make sure your domain is pointed to the dedicated IP address for the account. If it isn't, that could cause what you're seeing. You can find the correct dedicated IP address clicking Manage next to the hosting account name on the My Products page. The dedicated IP should be listed on the Hosting Details page. Once you have that, you can use the steps in this article to update your domain's A Record.

So it looks like there is something not installed / configured correctly I'm the server. I am guessing you are on windows / Plesk server. If that is correct please visit https://www.godaddy.com/help/plesk-install-a-certificate-5242 and make sure you have followed the instructions to install / configure your SSL certificate

the SSL/HTTPS port (443) is open so there are no firewall / blocking issues.

 

but there is no SSL server listening on that port. When I tried to download a page "by hand" using port 443, I got:

 

Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.

Apache Server at virtualhost.45.40.183.1 Port 80

It looks like you somehow mixed up HTTP and HTTPS ports (80 and 443 respectively). Check that you have separate sections for HTTPS and HTTP on your Apache server - listening on correct ports - and that there's SSL setup for port 443.
