DNS Management issue

My domain is hosted away from Godaddy but is part of my Godaddy account. I need to access the name servers to change away from this other host but Godaddy doesn't let me access the name servers when a site is hosted elsewhere. How can I point to a different host?

Re: DNS Management issue

The nameservers determine where you want to manage the DNS.

If you use your host's nameservers they would control your DNS.

If you use the default (GoDaddy) nameservers the DNS would be here, so you'll need to add the appropriate records for your website hosting, email, etc.

Re: DNS Management issue

That is the problem, I do not have access to the host's servers. The hosting is part of my appraisal software package, a part that I do not want anymore. I don't understand how I purchased my domain through Godaddy and directed the name servers to my Alamode servers but now I don't have access to redirect to a different name server or host? Shouldn't my Godaddy account give me the option to switch from one host to another?

Re: DNS Management issue

The first article above shows how to change the nameservers for a domain registered with GoDaddy.  You can use the nameservers from your new host to manage your DNS with them, or use the default nameservers and follow the second article to manage your DNS with GoDaddy.

Re: DNS Management issue

Thank you, I see it now. For some reason, I just wasn't seeing it!
